I’ve been toying with the idea with changing up the blog a bit and one idea was to include featured reviews of new albums so when the opportunity presented itself to review the new debut from Sar Isatum I figured this is as good a time as any to start doing that, so here we fucking go:

For those of you who haven’t notice, Colorado as of late has been producing some massively awesome bands. Name a genre and sub genre and we’ve got a band here that’s blowing it up and becoming fan (and critical) favorites. There’s far too many to list but we’ve been a hotspot for a couple years and now we can add to the mix Sar Isatum and their symphonic black metal prowess.

Taking a cue from the classic Norwegian black metal crowd, Sar Isatum is an intense explosion of black metal fury backed by a melodic symphonic, and slightly theatrical, atmosphere. It’s unrelenting on all fronts. While the intensity is unending, the songs are also well structured with infectious riffing that keeps your attention and easily worms into your gooey brain.

This album fucking kills.  It’s nice to hear some awesomely ferocious and nasty black metal coming out of my home state.
