You don’t typically think of Canada when you think of viking themed metal but according to history, it makes sense. Sig: Ar: Tyr think so too.

This is my first encounter with the band as I understand they have a new album on the way so I thought I would delve into their previous album when I saw they play Viking infused, black/folk/dark metal, a combination of words that usually grabs my attention.

This album is like the Primordial of viking metal. It’s not quite black metal but kind of falls outside of definition. It’s full of galloping, chest beating, fist raising, epic battle hymns and beautiful folk passages. It’s got all the things that make for a great metal album, viking or not.

Raise some swords and try this out this afternoon.
