Another week, another batch of new killer fucking metal. The new releases will probably start to trickle off from here throughout the rest of the year, as is typical but there are a few possible gems left for us in 2015.

NEW STUFF: (Links in titles)

Manegarm – Manegarm
Manegarm doing what they do. Folk, viking inspired metal. They’ve lost a lot of their earlier black metal leanings and I was kind of hoping they might dabble in them again. Oh well. I’d take these guys over Amon Amarth.

Ostots – Hil Argi
Some low fi, grim, yet beautiful black metal from the Spanish one man band. I’ve been on the look out for this since one of the members of Eternum was singing their praises on Instagram. It’s pretty fucking rad. It’s nice to hear something new with that nasty sound to it.

Horn – Feldpost
Just as I was expecting, the new Horn is fucking killer. Less nature oriented and moody in a different way. More sorrowful given that the title translates to “mail from the field,” or letters sent home from war. It still has all of the pagan black metal styling Horn is known to deliver but with more of dirtier, metal approach. Fantastic album.

Nachtlieder – The Female of the Species
This one woman, Swedish black metal band revels in orthodox and traditional black metal. It’s a reminder of black metal’s past with a more modern production style implemented. Furious at times, plodding at others, it’s a fairly decent album with a killer voice.

Darkest Era – Gods and Origins EP
Even only two songs of new Darkest Era is an amazing thing. Love this band.

Sacrificium Carmen – Ikuisen Tulen Kammiossa
Quick, down and dirty, satanic, Finnish black metal. Meat and potatoes sort of approach with some killer riffs and hooks. Highly catchy.

Anomalie – Refugium
Post black metal that’s heavier on the post side of things but still has some of that black metal bite. It ventures close to depressive black metal (maybe a little euro doom) but given a couple of the members help out live with Harakiri for the Sky I’m not surprised. Solid outing.

Wilt – Moving Monoliths
Beautiful, Canadian atmospheric black metal. Nothing fancy or new, but solid through and through.
