Almost half way through November and I’m sitting here wondering where did 2015 go? While time supposedly flies it’s left more new metal treasures again this week and has me wanting to do nothing more than just listen to metal all fucking day. If only that was a paying job. Professional metal listener. That’s the ticket.
Anyway, new stuff this week was at a trickle but we got the new Revenge album which more than makes up for it. That album is a fucking doozy. I wrote a full review of it for a new metal/beer/horror movie blog I was invited to contribute to called Kvlt of Brewtality. I’ll be periodically contributing reviews of new metal album that smash me in the face. You can check out my Revenge review here.
NEW JAMS: (Links in the titles)
Revenge – Behold.Total.Rejection
Totally not surprised that the new Revenge is a powerhouse of face splitting black metal. If you’re not familiar with Revenge’s black metal assault, this is as good an album as any of their to jump in. Unrelenting, fierce, and just fucking killer. Best of the year list look out.
Magic Circle – Journey Blind
And Magic Circle drops in with a killer classic doom album which is surely going to be overlooked for all the trendy doom bands. This band fucking kills it and this new one is fucking phenomenal.
All Them Witches – Dying Surfer Meets His Maker
This is typically not my thing but I enjoyed this album. It’s not really metal, more like slightly heavy, stoner, psychedelic rock, with all sorts of “post” everything sounds thrown in for good measure. Interesting album, interesting sound. I liked it ok.
Onirik – Casket Dream Veneration
Dismal, dark, evil, Portuguese, one man black metal band Onirik has crafted a pretty solid album here. It’s dismal through and through but there are moments of great beauty and melody.
Wallachia – Carpathia Symphonia EP
I wasn’t familiar with this band until today but No Clean Singing had a write up about their new EP and it sounded good. Low and behold, for a mere three bucks on Bandcamp you could get their new EP plus two of their full lengths and their original demo. The band plays a highly symphonic and nature oriented style of black metal with killer vocals and arrangements. If the EP is anything to go on, I’ll be in for a treat when I dive into the other albums.
Kampfar – Profan
Kampfar always brings the pagan black metal sweetness. They got as close as they’ve come to a classic album with 2011’s Mare and the two albums since have been quite solid. Not as good as Mare was but still quality albums.
Tombstalker – Black Crusade
If you like your death metal on the old school side with a healthy helping of rotten riffs, maybe try the new Tombstalker. Nothing new or original here but the songs are well written and you can tell the band is having a blast playing them. Maybe the seed of something greater to come.
Petrychor – Apocalyptic Witchcraft EP
Another new band to me. This one just dropped like a megaton bomb of awesome. One 26 minute long song of black metal majesty. It’s acoustic, it’s atmospheric, it’s crushing, it’s amazing.
Chastain – Ruler of the Wasteland
Grave Digger – Rheingold
Rage Nucléaire – Unrelenting Fucking Hatred
Slaegt – Beautiful and Damned
Violent Force – Malevolent Assault of Tomorrow
Denner Shermann – Satan’s Tomb
Running Wild – Black Hand Inn
Blind Guardian – Nightfall in Middle Earth
Nechochwen – Heart of Akamon
False – Untitled
Sins of Omission – The Creation
Sacrilege – Behind The Realms of Madness
Windfaerer – Tenebrosum
Vallendusk – Homeword Path
Until Next Time…
