We’re about the end the second week of July and while this week was fairly light on new metal releases, the albums that did come out are fucking face smashers of the highest order. I won’t beat around the bush today so here they are. Put all of this in your ears this weekend.

NEW STUFF:

Khemmis – Absolution
I saw these guys live a couple weeks ago and was immediately impressed. Classic doom in all the right ways. Their self described sound is  “like a doom metal Iron Maiden” and that’s pretty accurate though I can’t help hearing some Dawnbringer influence in there as well. Great album.

Svärta – Sepultus
Raw and chaotic black metal from Sweden that is like an off the rails take on Peste Noire. There are moments of sheer fury where the band just goes all out that are truly a sound to behold. Massively impressive debut from these guys.

NettleCarrier – Black Coffin Rites
Some noisy, grimy black metal made of from various members of Norwegian black metal standards. This’s is my first exposure to this band and man, what an killer fucking album. This one is going to get a ton of plays.

The Rest of This Week’s Jams:

Bekëth Nexëhmü – De Forna Sederna
The Moaning – Blood From Stone
Abyssal – Antikatastaseis
Wildrun – Sleep at the Edge of the Earth
Vallendusk – Homeward Path
