As much as I wish it were so, not every week can be jam packed with blazing new metal albums. This week appears to be one of those weeks. Only two albums I was interested in came out this week and one of them isn’t even a metal album. c’est la vie say the old folks, or so I’ve heard. With the drought in new albums this week I took the opportunity to delve in to the back catalogs of some bands I enjoy. Bands who’ve put out one or two killer albums I’ve enjoyed and was meaning to check out other works by them. I also spent some time revisiting classic albums I’ve neglected. Good news, they’re still awesome.

NEW STUFF

Abyssal – Antikatastaseis
Just the sort of grim, dreary, creative and beautiful death metal I needed this Monday morning. Abyssal is taking chances with death metal and making some truly unique and interesting music. Loved every bleak minute of it.

King Dude – Songs of Flesh & Blood – In the Key of Light
King Dude has been one of my favorites finds since last year. His country flavored, devotional blues and american mixed with an evil overtone is highly infectious. This album is just as every bit as good as his previous.
