I like to lump Old Man’s Child in with black metal bands like Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth, though I don’t think Old Man’s Child got as ridiculous as either. More so because all three bands had a couple killer early albums before descending into a more “mainstream” sense of making black metal. Dimmu and Cradle both went over the top symphonic for example, where as Old Man’s Child went more melodic metal. Which makes sense seeing as the main member of Child is also the guitarist for Dimmu. All that being said, Old Man’s Child’s first album is awesome and a great entry into the mid second wave of black metal. It’s a little raw with great guitar work, awesome vocals and some great moments of epic black metal. It’s a shame his later work went off course, as with the rest of these bands, but check this one out.
