Decibel has this one ranked as the number 5 best doom metal album of all time and it was that list that originally sent me on this exploration. I dug the previous Trouble album I explored so I was curious to get to this one, especially an album that is held at such a lofty position. I think it is so highly praised because of the time it was released. It’s heavier than Sabbath was, maybe even Candlemass at the time. It’s hard to listen to this album and not hear the influence on doom metal coming after it, even up to this day. It’s a great album, it may have helped kickstart an entire genre and it just flat out rocks. Number five of all time? I’m not sure, or, I’m not sure if I’m even qualified to make that call but it’s a stunning album from this genre and well worth your time.
