I suppose this is an album that when looked at in context of the time it was released might have been more revelatory. Born Too Late might be a statement about the slow, Sabbath like doom metal they were playing at the time when bands like Black Sabbath themselves had moved on to greener pastures and their only other contemporaries would have been Candlemass or Trouble. Despite that, this is as traditional doom as it gets. It’s not, sludge, epic, stoner or any other qualifier. It’s just doom. It’s a little boring, sure, but there’s a certain charm to it.
