I was familiar with Witchcraft from their 2012 album Legend. I thought that was an interesting album so I figured I might delve more into their back catalog. This being their first album, there is a lot of Pentagram influence going on here. Almost to the point of tribute. However, added into the mix is a level of psychedelic, 70’s based cult rock (predating the ever so prevalent “vest rock” revival we are currently at the tail end of) vintage sound with a healthy dose of southern rock swagger. Pretty impeccably so for a band from Sweden. There are moments that remind me of gothic country bad Those Poor Bastards. This is a jammy, fun and head bobbing album. Not sure how much doom is in it besides the Pentagram cover and influence, but alas, it’s worth a listen.
