Holy hell, where has this been all my life? I’ve explored a lot of varying types of doom, all with much enjoyment and interest but this one has sky rocketed to the top of my list with only one listen. It’s clear that Solitude Aeturnus owe a great deal to Candlemass. However I didn’t know that lead singer Robert Lowe did vocals for Candlemass between 2007 and 2012, featuring on one of my favorite later era Candlemass albums _Psalms for the Dead. _Anyway, they hit a lot harder than Candlemass instrumentally. The doom is ever present and hangs over the whole album, but it’s the only doom album so far that’s made me want to get that fist up in the air. I’m not sure if it’s a power metal level of rocking but there is a power to the album. Regardless, this album is incredible. It’s got doom, it’s got force, it’s epic and it fucking rocks.
