I’ve already journeyed through Cathedral’s next album The Carnival Bizarre in a previous post so some of this might be similar. As I mentioned in the Carnival Bizarre post I mentioned how Cathedral went for a “party” doom vibe and started to add a lot of swaggering, grooving songs and rock star attitude singing to their sound. I think the roots of that start on this album. It still holds a lot of Sabbath style doom in it’s heart but the songs are starting to get a little bit more rock, gathering a good amount of boogie and generally just rocking. Something I failed to mention in the last post is that Cathedral is the band Lee Dorian started after he left Napalm Death. A bit of change there.
