Another band I wasn’t familiar with (hence the reason for my Doom journey) but I had an idea going in what it was going to be about. The label “stoner doom” comes up with this band so I was expecting a sort of slow burn, low end heavy, sludgey trip and that’s exactly what I got. I’ve seen this album compared to Sleep’s Holy Mountain and while I definitely hear the influence (it’s hard not to hear Sleep’s influence in this genre of doom) I don’t think it’s a rival to its classic stature. That being said, this is a pretty good album. Not as slow and tedious as some stoner doom, with some great riffs. It’s a little crusty in places but you kind of expect that with this style of metal.
