I feel like I’m stepping into a party that’s been going on forever when it comes to SubRosa. I don’t know if it’s just me but SubRosa seems to come up a lot on music sites and in general when I’m cruising different blogs. I’ve never actually taken the time to listen to this band so I was anxious to hear what all the fuss was about. Well, like I said, I’m late to the party and I wish I had gotten there on time. This album is beautiful. The amazing guitar riffs coupled with the gorgeous vocals make for a doom album the likes of which I have not heard before. There are the slow sludgy moments you would expect on a doom album but there’s an element of folk used throughout the album that makes it stand out more and helps weave together the whole production. Front woman Rebecca Vernon’s voice perfectly fits with the music and has a bit of chill to it as well as power. I’m glad I checked this one out, FINALLY.
